Prodigal: A Second Chance Romance by Pippa Prince is a standalone romance and a debut novel. This is the second debut novel I have read in the past month or so that has been such a pleasant surprise to read. It is well polished, planned, and edited which you don't always find with the first of an author's books out the gate. Also, I absolutely LOVE second chance romances!Zack Carpenter is man with a past. He has made some serious mistakes in the past and is back in his hometown to finally begin making amends with his family.
Liz McAllister is a beautiful and successful woman following in her father's footsteps and groomed to one day soon take over the family business.
Their past was brief but they had a connection then - does that still exist now?
The chemistry between these two characters was phenomenal. The story was deep enough to make a solid storyline but light enough to make it a pleasure to read. From the banter between these two, the self-realization they both go through as a result of their interactions together to the resolutions they both come to as far as their lives are concerned, both together and separately.
Add in a small element of danger and it was the perfect recipe for an awesome read. Enjoy!

Pippa Prince is a new author to me but I can't wait to see what she brings out next as I really enjoyed reading Prodigal.
This book is a quick action packed witty second chance romance.
I read it in one sitting and I'm so glad I read it as I love finding new authors.
Zachary Carpenter has a bit of a bad boy rep and left his home town to join the Navy.
His dad passed away and he messed up big time with his family.
He returns home years later to fix everything and ends up running in to Elizabeth McAllister his high school crush.
This book is full of witty banter ,a lot of chemistry,sizzling hotness and a pinch of drama to keep us on our toes.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book and would recommend this book if you like your men all alpha and love second chances and redemption.
Zack is home, he needs to make amends with his family, show his mother who has been Ill and his sister that he is going to do right by them, One of the ways he plans to accomplish this mighty feat is by opening a Gym that would offer MMA/ personal training something he knows much about, he hopes to earn a enough money back from that to help them out, a prime location for this venture is up for auction soon, he is determined to get it, what he doesn't know is his high school love, whom he hurt,Elizabeth is also going to be bidding on that same property for her father's company, he now has more than just his mom and sister to make amends for, but letting her in could prove to be bad for them both.
This is a first time read for me by this author, Prodigal IMO was a sweet-n-steamy second chance romance with a bit of dramatic twist, the two main characters are very relatable and likeable, fast paced easy read,with a super sweet HEA that I read in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed! I am glad that I have a new author's books to enjoy! I am looking forward to reading what Pippa Prince comes out with next!

Zack Carpenter has much to repent for. He’s the prodigal son, having just returned home from 10 years away. Zack has spent much of his time away from home getting into trouble, both in and out of the Navy. His vices and bad choices have hurt his convalescing mother and sister in the worst possible ways. It has crippled them financially and it has broken their trust in him completely. His family doesn’t exactly welcome him home with a ticker tape parade, but they’ve given him a roof over his head while he gets his bearings and tries to execute his grand plan to payback every penny he owes.
Elizabeth McAllister gave her heart to Zack in a dark, storage closet back in high school. Zack smashed her heart to smithereens not long after, by standing her up on prom night. She’s now a successful businesswoman who works hard to earn the respect of her father within his corporation, but she doesn’t have the passion for it like he does. Elizabeth is eventually supposed take over the business from her dad and fully intends to, her heart is just invested elsewhere. She devotes time and money into a local, battered woman’s shelter and when the choices she’s made to please her father begin to interfere with that commitment, Liz starts to re-evaluate her priorities.
It doesn’t take long for Zack and Liz to cross paths in their small town and Liz finds out that he’d also like to make amends with her. Even though they’ve never shared more than a few high school sweetheart kisses, the electricity between them is immediately evident, even after 10 years apart.
Zack and Liz find their schedules are suffocating their social lives. Zack is trying to re-build his reputation and his life, while Liz is trying to find herself before she’s locked into a commitment at the family corporation for the foreseeable future. They are both very hard working and focused, but they steal sweet moments together whenever they can, so that they can get to know each other again. The two of them seem to desperately want to be together, but they have so much fighting against them. Her father. The town’s disgust towards Zack. Zack’s secret debt that needs to be repaid. Even Zack’s own sister doesn’t trust that he’s reformed his ways.
In the end, Liz decides what is most important in her life and follows that path with her whole heart. Zack continues to re-build his life brick, by back-breaking brick, but eventually after surviving destructive outside interference, the people in town start to see that he’s not the monster that he’s been made out to be. As long as Liz can forgive him for his secret transgressions, then that’s all that matters. How will she handle the news? He’s been so scared to tell her, did he wait too long?
This is a very sweet, second chance romance. Most of the romance is stolen kisses, the occasional sext and flirting. Near the end of the book there are some steamy scenes and then a cute happily ever after with brief epilogue.
Standalone. HEA. No cheating. No cliffhanger.
